The University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (UCT Prague) works continuously to deepen its international integration. It actively supports international cooperation in the field of education, science, and research, both with European and non-European partners.
 
UCT Prague considers international cooperation in research and the educational field to be a necessary condition for maintaining and further developing the level of these areas. Student mobilities, both outward and inward, the creation and implementation of joint study programs and the internationalization of other areas of university life create an inspiring environment at UCT Prague, in which new stimuli are created for improving the level and forms and methods of teaching our students, for improving conditions for studies, for the development of the activities of students and academic staff and the expansion of all forms of international cooperation. Similarly, international contacts in the field of science and research are also a source for the development of UCT Prague's science and research activities.
 
The cornerstones of international activities are inter-institutional cooperation agreements, joint study programs with foreign universities, mobility of students and employees within the Erasmus+ program and other international programs, and international scientific and research projects.
 
International cooperation of UCT Prague is coordinated by the Department of International Relations in cooperation with the Project Centre and Research and Technology Transfer Office and the relevant vice-rectors.

INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC-RESEARCH PROJECTS AND CONFERENCES

 
The faculties of UCT Prague are actively involved in a whole range of international scientific and research projects, e.g. HORIZON 2020, Norwegian funds, and NATO.
 
UCT Prague organizes or co-organizes several prestigious scientific conferences or specialized professional seminars with international participation.
 
Per the long-term plan, UCT Prague also has a priority interest in increasing the frequency of visits by representatives of foreign universities and other institutions to UCT Prague, inviting foreign experts to lecture stays at the university and establishing new contacts that can contribute to intensifying the school's international cooperation.
 

MEMBERSHIP IN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

 
UCT Prague is a member of several international organizations. Among the most important is membership in the EUA (European University Association), which brings together almost 800 universities from 46 European countries. Thanks to EUA membership, the university has the opportunity to participate in all its significant activities supporting higher education in Europe and thereby present itself to the entire academic community in Europe.
 
Employees of the foreign department are members of the EAIE (European Association for International Education) network, whose goal is the development of professional competencies in the field of internationalization of the higher education environment.

PRIDE Network

Professionals in Doctoral Education - an association focused on the professional development of administrative staff and academics who support or ensure the doctoral education agenda. This includes in particular the management and employees of doctoral schools or other supporting organizational units that ensure the course of doctoral studies and the personal and professional development of young researchers and their supervisors.

EUA-CDE

The EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE) was established in 2008 at the initiative of the European University Association in response to the growing interest in doctoral education and research training in Europe. An integral part of the European University Association is now the largest European network in this field, which includes more than 267 universities and institutions dealing with issues of doctoral education and training in research in 37 countries. By promoting cooperation and the exchange of best practices among its members and by disseminating the results of its work, EUA-CDE contributes significantly to the development of doctoral education and training in research in Europe.
VŠCHT became a member in October 2022.

UCT Halls of Residence ◳ BUDOVA (png) → (originál)

The UCT Prague provides the possibility of accommodation at the Residence Halls of UCT Prague during the first 3 months of your stay. The halls are located at the outskirts of Prague, about 40 minutes away from the university campus by public transport. Although you will not get the comfort of your own place, it is the cheapest and the easiest option for you before you start searching for a private flat. To book a room, please contact your UCT Mobility Coordinator.

Your room key will be prepared for you either in the dorm office at Sázava building or at the reception, depends on the time when you reach the dorms.

You will be paying a deposit, which is 5000 CZK in cash per person (this amount will be returned to you after you move out from the dorms).

You will sign a contract only for 3 months. It is highly recommended to start looking for private accommodation during this period.

Medical check-up

 ◳ DOKTOR1 (jpg) → (ořez 215*215px)Before signing the employment contract, you will have to make a medical check-up with the general practitioner of UCT Prague.

Our university doctor is located at the University Campus.

The doctor's office is located in another university building, next to the kindergarden Zkumavka.

You should bring with you conformation about the tetanus vaccinaton and medical history form from your general doctor.  If you don’t have any doctor,  you can just fill-in a declaration and sign it.

Signing your employment contract

After the visit of our doctor you will have an appointment at the Personnel Department to sign your employment contract and paperwork related to your employment. Usually it is done on the same day.

Your UCT Mobility Coordinator will provide you with the time and date of your appointment.

Card centre

After the signature of your employment contract you are going to receive your employee card. The card  ◳ VNITRA (jpg) → (šířka 215px)centre is located in the basement of the building B, Room (B)S06.

You will need to bring your passport or ID card and make a photo.

Registration at the Ministry of the Interior

Within the first 3 days after your arrival, you should make a registration at the Ministry of the Interior - OAMP.

During the Pandemic it is possible to do so after the end of the quarantine.

Adaptation and Integration Course

Third country citizens with a long-term residence permit or permanent residence permit issued after 1.1.2021 are oblidged to take an Adaptation and Integration course within 1 year from the collection of their residence permit, at their own costs. It takes approximatelly 4 hours and the cost is around 1000 CZK.

You can make a reservation for this course at the webpage of the Integration centers.

This obligation does not apply to:

  • long-term residence permit with a purpose of study  
  • EU citizens
  •  Change of purpose (only if your long-term residence permit had been issued before 01/2021)
  • Holders of temporary residence permit (during the period of its validity)
  • Persons under 15 years
  • Persons above 61 years
  • Persons who already took the course
  • Persons who paid a penalty fee for not having taken the course

Within the first 30 days after your arrival, you should make a registration at OAMP (Asylum and Immigration department) which is a part of the Ministry of the Interior.

Entrance to the building is possible via prior appointment only!

Before going to the Ministry of Interior, please send via email to the UCT Mobility Coordinator the following documents:

  • “entry visa”
  • “entry stamp” from Praha airport or “entry stamp” from another Schengen country
  • filled in and signed document „Prohlášení o příjezdu“
  • accommodation contract in Czech language – please ask at the dorms office

Then, the UCT Mobility Coordinator will book and appointment at the Ministry for you.

What is going to happen at the Ministry:

You will have to go there twice :

  • first for your registration (with passport and accommodation contract), your biometric data will be taken (your fingerprints and picture of you)
  • second time (in about 2 weeks from the first visit) you will pick up your residence permit card. That will be your visa in the Czech Republic. The second appointment will be given to you by the Ministry officer.

How to get there:

From the university you can take a train number 26 from Dejvická to Letenské náměstí. It is only about 10 minutes.

From Sazava dorms you can catch the bus number 177 (bus station Volha) to metro station Opatov. From Opatov station you will take the metro to the Vltavská station. And then you will take the tram (number 1, 12, 25 ) to Letenské náměstí.

It is a huge old building, the entrance is from the street where the trams go, you will see a small statue of Czech lion on the wall. Make sure you use the entrance from the street Milady Horákové.

Before you start working at UCT Prague (or the same day), you have to come to the Personnel Department (HR), room  ZB 3408 (Zikova 4, 2nd floor). Your Mobility coordinator will inform you in advance about the date of your appointment that is usually at the same day as your medical check-up. Please be aware that medical examination needs to be completed prior to the conclusion of the employment contract (it does not apply to an Agreements on Work Performance)

What documents to bring to the meeting with HR:

  • your passport or ID card
  • long-term residence permit ( applicable only to citizens from outside the EU/ EEA Switzerland – if they already have it),
  • original or certified copy of your academic diploma or highest completed degree in English or Czech ( Verification / Recognition of Foreign Education)
  • Health insurance certificate or Health insurance card valid in the Czech Republic or in EU countries (if available)
  • if you have been assigned a Czech birth number, provide proof of it

Please inform your payroll accountant whether you work or will continue to work for another employer,  simultaneously or alternately, either in the Czech Republic or abroad, as these may affect your income tax; and determining a country in which the social security legislation applies to you.

Formalities to be administered at the Personnel department:

  • Information on the content of the employment relationship
  • Employment contract (in some cases also a Supplementary agreement)
  • Salary statement with a specified salary tariff class based on assignment to your career/employment position
  • If relevant a Personal bonus from the project
  • Job description
  • Personal profile form
  • Consent to personal data processing in accordance with the GDPR
  • Consent to the processing of personal data for MobIS
  • Consent to the transfer of personal data to the grant provider from the OP RDE, or to the European Commission for registration and control purposes (if relevant)
  • Your bank account details for the purpose of transferring your wage/salary
  • Health and Safety Regulations, Fire Protection – Initial Training - you will receive a form with basic instruction. At the first day you will have to be trained at the workplace by your supervisor, you both will sign it and deliver this document to the Personnel Department.
  • Declaration of the taxpayer liable to personal income tax from dependent activity - a “pink form”. You will be asked to fill in and sign it in case you are only employed at UCT Prague and not at the same time with another employer.
  •  Internal Standard  Conditions of Employment of the University of Chemistry and Technology,
    Prague 

 The payroll accountant will register you for social security and public health insurance in the Czech systems from the first day of your employment and she/he will pay statutory contributions. If you are an EU/EEA or Switzerland citizen who is and will be covered by the social security legislation of another Member State, provide your A1 certificate to your payroll accountant. It does not apply to "DPP" (Agreement on Work Performance) with monthly remuneration less than 10 500 CZK. It does not apply as well to DPČ (Agreement on Work Activity) if the monthly remuneration is less than 4 000 CZK.

Please do not forget to update your payroll accountant of any changes that occur during your employment. You can enter your changes and check your personal data and your payslips also in the electronic attendance system Okbase.

 

Your next step is to visit Card Centre which is a check point where you arrange your access to the UCT Prague  on-line information system. Bring with you your passport, the Card centre staff will register you in the information system and will take your photo.  You will be given a username and a password to the computer network and you will obtain an UCT Prague ID card. Your access to the system will not start until the next day.

Those who study and at the same time enter into an employment contract with the UCT Prague are recommended to apply to the Ministry of the Interior for the issuance of a Czech birth number (Rodné číslo), and thus avoid duplicating a user account with different login passwords. Reporting changes of an EU citizen

All foreigners are required to report to the Ministry of Interior ( MOI – OAMP) all changes during their stay in the Czech Republic.

Change of address

Change of your address has to be report at the MOI – OAMP within 30 days of it's occurring. This change is without any fee and you will get a stamp in your passport or you will get a new Certificate of Temporary residence. You will need these supporting documents:

  • Proof of accommodation at the new address
  • Travel document

Change of travel document/passport

Change of your travel document/passport has to be report at the MOI – OAMP within 3 days of its occurring. You will need to bring your new passport with you. This change is without any fee.

Change of your name/surname

Change of your name or surname has to be reported at the MOI-OAMP within 3 days of its occurring. You will need your new passport or identity card.

The fee for changing your name or surname is 1000 CZK in a form of revenue stamp (kolek). 

Change of marital status

Change of your marital status has to be report at the MOI-OAMP within 3 days of its occurring. This change is without fee. You will need supporting documents:

  • A document confirming the change of marital status (ex.: marriage certificate etc…)
  • Travel document/passport 

If this change also involves the change of your surname you will have to provide with a new passport with the new surname. 

Other changes

All other changes have to be reported to MOI – OAMP within 3 days of their occurring. You will need a document confirming the change and a travel document/passport.

Change of address

In this case, you are not oblidged to visit the MOI in person and you can  send the documents via post.

The below supporting documents are required:

  • Proof of accommodation at the new address
  • Travel document

If you are a holder of a permanent residence permit, a new card will be issued, therefore you will be charged an administrative fee equal to 1000 CZK and you are oblidged to visit the MOI – OAMP in person to provide your biometric data.

Your Mobility Coordinator will book an appointment for you at the MOI-OAMP.

Change of travel document/passport

Change of your travel document/passport has to be report at the MOI – OAMP within 3 days of its occurring. You will need to bring your new passport with you. This change is without any fee.

Change of your name/surname

Change of your name or surname has to be reported at the MOI-OAMP within 3 days of its occurring. You will need your new passport or identity card.

The fee for changing your name or surname is 1000 CZK in a form of revenue stamp (kolek).

A child born in the Czech Republic

If your child is born in the territory of the CR during your stay on a long-term visa, your are required to file an application on behalf of your newly born child for a long-term visa at the MOI-OAMP within 60 days from the day of birth. The following documents are required:

  • Travel document/passport (of the legal representative)
  • Green application form (purpose DÍTĚ NAROZENÉ NA ÚZEMÍ ČR)
  • The child’s birth certificate
  • Medical insurance for the child

The administrative fee is 1000 Kč (kolek)

Other changes

All of other changes has to be reported to MOI – OAMP within 3 days of their occurring. You will need a document confirming the change and a travel document/passport.

If you lose your travel document/proof of identity/residence card or wallet, you are obliged to notify the Czech police (Policie České republiky) within 24 hours. At the police station you will fill-in a report. The police is obliged by law to provide you with an interpreter, however, there is not always an English speaking person to help you immediatelly.

We recommend you to go to Malá Strana police station or  Police station at Jungmannovo náměstí. They have English speaking officers.

  • Green application form - needs to be printed out in colors, filled up in Czech language; in the upper part please tick extension - prodloužení,  in Nr. 15 write VEDECKY VYZKUM;  you do not need to translate the names and employers. Please sign it

  • Accommodation contract – original; in Czech language.

  • Passport - copy of the first page with your personal details and of all pages with some stamp or/and visa!

  • 1 passport size picture (3.5 x 4.5 cm)

  • KOLEK (revenue stamps) in the amount of 2 500 CZK - stick it to the green application form under point 33

Your Mobility Coordinator will deliver these documents to MOI-OAMP and will book an appointment for you.

For  the extension of your long-term residence permit with the purpose of scientific research you need to apply at the Immigration office (Ministry of Interior).

The application form must be submitted no earlier than 120 days before the expiry  of your residence card and no later than the last day of the validity of your residence permit. 

You will need to provide to the Immigration office:

  • Green application: needs to be printed out in colors, filled up in Czech language; in Nr. 15 write: STUDIUM

  • Passport – copy of the first page with your personal details and of all pages with any stamp or visa

  • Proof of study

  • Accommodation contract in Czech, original

  • 1 passport size picture (3.5 x 4.5 cm)

  • proof of funds

  • medical insurance - comprehensive health insurance for the whole period of your stay

  • KOLEK (revenue stamps) in the amount of 2 500 CZK - stick it to the green application form under point 33

 PROOF OF FUNDS:

 There are 2 ways to prove that you have sufficient amount of money for the whole period of your stay

  • A bank account statement
    • 1 semester – 78 250 CZK
    • 1 year – 115 810 CZK

  • A document proving your monthly income

In case you are employed, you need to provide a confirmation of your net salary.

You monthly income should be approximatelly

  • 9000 CZK in case you are living at the UCT dorms and
  • 12 860 CZK in case you are living in a private appartment

These costs should cover the subsistence minimum for living ( 4 470 CZK) plus the highest amount of normative housing costs (9000 CZK) or housing costs you actually spend.

ATTENTION! A scholarship is NOT a proof of funds

 

MEDICAL INSURANCE:

  1. You should buy a commercial medical insurance for the whole period of your stay. You should choose the comprehensive option with the below provider:

2.   In case you are employed, the medical insurance is covered by your employer.

ATTENTION! In case you have a DPP contract with salary less than 10 000 CZK, your employer does not cover your medical insurance

EU citizens

Up to 26 years of age

They are considered as “children” and they are insured as a parent’s national in that member state in accordance with the rules of that EU Member State. They have a blue EHIC – European Health Insurance Card.

When coming to study on the doctoral level in the Czech Republic, they have to fill out the S1 health insurance form in the country of origin (they will need the A1 form as well) for the claim to health care in another EU country.

Foreign doctoral students – EU citizens 26 years old and above

they will be treated as members of the Czech public health insurace system, if they they register with a Czech public health insurance provider (e.g. VZP, OZP). 


When registering, they will be asked to provide the following details:

  • Confirmation of the university that they are enrolled  in a FULL-TIME doctoral study programme, for the first time in the Czech Republic, within a STANDARD PERIOD OF STUDY (3 years + one year extension can be accepted = maximum 4 years)
  • Proof of residence in the Czech Republic  including address, by submitting the following documents: 
  • Accommodation or lease agreement
  • Contract with Czech mobile phone operator, internet provider
  • Contract with electricity supplier or payment statements
  •  Other supporting documents such as a long-term ticket for public transport, fitness centre card, etc. 

If they have an employment contract (does not apply for Agreement on Work Performance - "DPP" under 10 000 CZK per month and Agreement on Work Activity -"DPČ" under 4 000 CZK per month), then the health insurance is paid by the employer (2552 CZK per month).

Foreign doctoral students – EU citizens (including Czech Republic) older than 28 years

Those who do not have an employment contract in the Czech Republic or have an Agreement on Work Performance  "DPP" under 10 500 CZK per month with one employer or an Agreement on Work Activity "DPČ"under 4 000 CZK per month or are considered as persons without taxable income (OBZP), are required to pay the health insurance at a public health insurance company themselves. This applies to Czech doctoral students as well. For the year 2024 the amount is 2 552 CZK per month.

 

Non-EU Citizens

If you are a student and you wish to be a holder of a residence permit with a purpose of scientific research, please make sure that:

  • You have completed your university studies at least in master's degree (Mgr., Ing. MSc.).
  • You have an employment contract  in  the field of research activities (vědecký výzkum) and the form must be "Employment Relationship" (not agreements on work performed outside the employment relationship - "DPP", "DPČ"

During your stay in the CR you may become a family member of an EU citizen. In this case you will submit an application for a Temporary residence permit for a family member of an EU citizen at the MOI.

Since 2.8.2021, family members of EU citizens are divided into 2 categories: immediate and extended family members of an EU citizen (blízcí a vzdálení rodinní příslušníci).

 For the application, you will need:

marriage certificate, verified if needed, accommodation contract, photos etc., in case of partnership filled and signed a Sworn statement of partnership (Čestné prohlášení o partnerském vztahu), the Embassy will require a Czech version. 

  • birth certificate (for children), verified if needed
  • application form filled
  • revenue stamp of 200 Kč
  • photographs,
  • a proof of medical travel insurance - comprehensive insurance with pVZP company for the whole period of stay - only in case of extended family members
  • medical insurance card of EU citizen - in case of immediate family member
  • monthly family income document - in case of extended family member
  • proof of accommodation,
  • a document about residence of EU citizen in the territory.

All documents must be officially translated into Czech and verified if needed

 The application must be filed personally at the MOI and the delay for approval is 60 days.

The validity of this permit is 5 years for immediate family members and 3 years for extended family members.

Immediate family members can apply for a permanent residence permit after 3 years of continuous stay.

Permanent residence permit for non-EU nationals

For this type of residency you will need:

  • Green application form - needs to be printed out in colors, filled up in Czech language. Purpose of your stay is TRVALY POBYT PO 5 LETECH

  • 1 passport size picture (3.5 x 4.5 cm)
  • Fulfillment of the condition of 5 years continuous temporary residence – apply at the Ministry of the Interior for the certificate of the history of your residence on the territory of the Czech Republic

  • Proof of funds – job contract with all amendments, original; in Czech language

If you are expecting a baby to be born in the Czech Republic, there are a few formalities that need to be arranged as soon as possible after the baby is born. Read more on the web page gov.cz

Insurance

Your baby will be a member of the public health insurance system from the day of birth. He/she will be insured for at least two months, specifically until the end of the month in which he/she reaches the age of 60 days. For the further stay of the baby, who is non-EU citizen, it is then necessary to take out commercial health insurance.  From 1/1/2024 children under 18 years of age will automatically become participants in the Public Health Insurance System.  Read more on FRS.GOV.CZ

 The researcher employed at UCT Prague is insured with the VZP insurance company, so the baby will also need to register for public insurance with the VZP insurance company https://www.vzp.cz/ . Registration of the baby with the insurance company must be done within 8 days of his / her birth! It is better to go there in person and with the child's birth certificate. The VZP insurance company will send you payment details after registration. The insurance premium is payable from the first to the last day of the decisive period. The insurance premium is 4 104 CZK for the period of 60 days.

After this time, it will be necessary to insure the baby with comprehensive health insurance with the PVZP insurance company https://www.pvzp.cz/en/ ( till 31.12.2023)

Long term residence permit (Non-EU nationals)

Within 60 days from the date of the baby's birth, it is necessary to apply for his/her long-term residence permit in the Czech Republic. This application is submitted to the Ministry of the Interior and it is necessary for the mother or father to come there in person!

 The application requirements are:

  • Green application form (see attached) - needs to be printed out in colors, filled up in Czech language; in Nr. 15 write DÍTĚ NAROZENÉ NA ÚZEMÍ ČR; if you are not sure what to write to each point, please, let me know or use google translator;
  • Travel document/passport; can be substituted by submitting a travel document of the foreign national (legal representative), in which the child is entered
  • The child’s birth certificate,
  • Child's passport picture
  • Document on medical insurance
  • KOLEK (revenue stamp) in the amount of 1000 Kč - stick it to the green application form

 As soon as the baby is born, please let contact your mobility coordinator. She  will make an appointment for you at the MOI. If he/she does not have a passport during the mentioned 60 days, it doesn't matter - we mainly have to submit his/her application for a stay and we would prove his/her passport later

Before asking your employer for this benefit, please make sure you meet the following conditions:

  • You must have been employed (and the social security insurance was paid by your employer) at least 3 months before the time paternity leave is to begin
  • You apply for this benefit only within the first 6 weeks from the date of birth
  • The supported period of this benefit is up to 14 calendar days, it MUST NOT be interrupted

What do you need to document when you apply for a paternity leave benefit? 

  • Completed application  "Žádost o dávku otcovské poporodní péče (otcovskou)" , download the form on the website of the Czech Social Security Administration -  ČSSZ
  • Bitth certifivate of your baby or any other document proving paterenity.

When the applicatioshould be submitted and to whom

  • The application is submitted to the Personnel department of UCT Prague, similarly to a request for annual leave
  • You can choose to take paternity leave at any time within 6 weeks of the child's birth
  • Salary compensation amounts to 70% of the reduced daily assessment base of your salary

Termination of your employment contract

When your employment contract with UCT Prague expires, you have a lot of administrative matters to deal with before you leave.

Employment contracts shall expire on the date by which the contract was concluded.

An employment contract can be terminated only in accordance with the Labour Code. Forms and information are available on website of Personnel department.

 If you are a third-country national, you are obliged to leave the Czech Republic immediately after the termination of your employment contract, unless you have a new employment relationship with another employer and your long-term residence permit has been extended or you are a student and you are a holder of the residence permit for the purpose of study.

When and to whom you should inform about your work termination

It is recommended to start one month in advance and inform:

  1. Your superior and Head of department - agree on how to complete your work, submit results, reports and publications, account for your project finances, sign your time sheets and, if applicable, other reports, return borrowed things and books.
  2. Mobility coordinator - make an appointment to discuss what you will need assist with
  3. Personnel department – agree on when to stop there and deal with the exit administrative matters.

 

Things you shouldn't forget

Future addresspass on your telephone, e-mail, address of residence, address for sending documents to persons referred to in previous points a), b) and c). They should know, where you will be available after leaving UCT Prague, due to further cooperation and handling of administrative matters.

Residence permit – applicable only for third country nationals.

  • If you are a holder of a long term residence permit for a purpose of scientific research, please note that this type of permit is issued only for the purpose of scientific research at UCT Prague. When you terminate your employment contract with UCT Prague before your residence permit expires, e.g. you will go to work to another research organization or university in the Czech Republic, UCT Prague is obliged to notify the MOI (DAMP) of the termination of the Hosting Agreement with you and at the same time the new research institution is obliged to document the new Hosting Agreement to the MOI (DAMP).
  • If you terminate your working contract prior expiration of your residence permit and you are leaving Czech Republic, you are obliged to return your card of Long term residence permit to the Mobility Coordinator, who reports termination of Hosting agreement and hands over your card to MOI DMAP.
  • If you go to work to non-research organisation, e.g. commercial sector (company), the new employer has to go through the process of obtaining a new Employee card for you. Read more on https://www.mvcr.cz/docDetail.aspx?docid=21849989&doctype=ART
  • If you stay at UCT Prague and continue only as a student, you should apply in advance for a change of the purpose of your residence permit. You are advised to contact the mobility coordinator in about 1 month in advance for assistance. with the change of purpose of your residence permit.

Holiday - find out how many days of holiday you have left and use it before you leave.

Exit form (Výstupní list) - fill in the exit form, print it out and have the return of borrowed stuff, books and keys confirmed and signed by your Head of department, hand it over on the last day of your stay at work to the Personnel department.

E-mail and internet access - with the termination of your employment contract, your e-mail address with the domain @vscht.cz and access to the internal computer network will stop working. After agreement with your Head of department you can request an extension of the access for about 3 months, based on a written request sent by your Head of department to the  helpdesk@vscht.cz.  You can set up forwarding your incoming emails to your new or private e-mail address using the interface at https://absmail.vscht.cz.

Health insurance - after the end of your employment contract, UCT Prague terminates your contract with the health Insurance company and stops paying your insurance.

  • If you are a third-country national you are advised to take out a commercial health insurance for you and your family members, if appropriate, from the first day after the termination of your employment contract until you leave the Czech Republic.
  • If you are an EU/EEA and Switzerland citizen and remain in the Czech Republic and you are not employed, you are advised to register with the health insurance company as a “OBZP -  Osoba bez zdanitelných příjmů” a person without taxable income and pay for the insurance yourself, the monthly rate for the year 2021 is 2052 CZK, read more on the website of VZP (Všeobecná zdravotní pojišťovna) https://www.vzp.cz/platci/informace/obzp or relevant insurance company of your choice. Social security insurance - during your employment, UCT Prague pays mandatory contribution to your social security, which include sickness, pension and unemployment insurance. The authority that administers this insurance is the Czech Social Security Administration (ČSSZ) . Upon termination of your employment contract, UCT Prague will cease to pay this insurance. The Personnel department will prepare your Pension insurance record sheet (ELDP - Evidenční list důchodového pojištění) and will hand it over to you.

  • If you are a third-country national, check if your country of origin concluded with the Czech Republic the bilateral social security  agreement and what benefits the agreement regulates https://www.cssz.cz/web/cz/prehled-smluv-uzavrenych-cr. In the absence of an international agreement, you are unfortunately not entitled to the transfer of the paid premium to your country of origin or to the refund of the paid insurance in the Czech Republic. If you work and stay in another EU country, your entitlement to social security benefits will be aggregated. Then ask the mobility coordinator to complete the U1 form.
  • If you are an EU/EEA and Switzerland citizen you will remain in the social security system according the EU coordination rules. You will be covered by the system of the country determined according your A1 certificate that proofs which country legislation applies to you.   • If you are a student and your employment contract terminates, you will lose entitlements for social security benefits that are working holiday and sickness leave.

 

Bank account - Keep your bank account open, you will receive your last wage/salary on the 9th calendar day of the month following the termination of your employment. It is at your discretion whether to keep the account open longer. You may expect a refund of your income tax overpayment.

If you live in the UCT Prague dormitory, inform the staff at the reception when you will leave, pay the rent, ask for the deposit to be returned, hand over the keys.

Income tax – you are obliged to pay tax on your income in the Czech Republic, if you are a tax resident of another state, you also have to declare income from the Czech Republic in the state of your tax residence. The income tax is deducted from your salary and paid to the Czech Tax office (Finanční úřad). The Personnel department will prepare your Certificate of the Taxable Income (Potvrzení o zdanitelných příjmech). This document will be handed over to you.

Last day at work

  • You should return to your supervisor the keys to the lab or room you worked.
  • You should go to the Personnel department where you will hand over a signed Exit form, a UCT identity card and a health insurance card and check your address, where the Pension insurance record sheet, Certificate of taxable incomes and paid tax advances and Confirmation of employment at UCT Prague will be sent.
