Who can participate in IAESTE internships?
IAESTE internships are open to students of all study levels, including Ph.D. students, and graduates within one year of completing their studies. The specific requirements, such as the type of studies or years completed, depend on the individual internship offer. Generally, students can apply after their first year of study. Internships take place in private companies, research institutions, and universities, depending on the particular offer.
Why choose an IAESTE internship?
-
Paid internships: All IAESTE internships offer remuneration. The amount is dependent on the particular offer but is always designed to at least cover living costs, including accommodation. A travel grant from The International Department is also available.
-
Worldwide opportunities: IAESTE operates in over 100 countries, offering internships in neighboring nations or far-off destinations like Japan or Brazil. Simply pick your choice!
-
Flexible duration: Majority of the internships last 2–3 months, making them ideal for the summer. However, the duration can range from 6 weeks to a year, with many internships allowing you to select a time that suits you the best.
-
Recognized mandatory practice: If you are a first-year student of a follow-up master’s program and you have to complete a mandatory specialized practice in the summer semester, you can have the IAESTE internship recognized by your guarantor. It only depends on discussing the internship offer with your guarantor in advance.
-
IAESTE is here for you: From application and selection to visa processes, travel, and arriving at your new workplace, IAESTE members will assist you through every step.
-
Global friendships: IAESTE connects interns and organizes enriching programs, ensuring your free time during the internship is packed with experiences and new friends from all over the world.
-
Academic advantages: An internship abroad can not only significantly assist you in further studies and writing your final thesis but, more importantly, completing the training represents a major advantage during entrance exams for Ph.D. studies.
-
Opportunities for graduates: Graduates can also participate, provided they start the internship within a year of finishing their studies.

IAESTE offers two main types of internships:
