Opportunity that may be of interest to VŠCHT students!
Researcher (PhD student) Karina Amineva, have recently been awarded the DZKJ Young Scientist Grant, which includes funding for a student assistant position in our lab at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, TU Dresden. The position is compensated with approximately 556 EUR per month and can be combined with a Master’s or Bachelor’s thesis project. Additionally, accommodation can be arranged in the Universitätsklinikum guest house, where a furnished room is available starting from 211,04 EUR per month (https://www.uniklinikum-dresden.de/de/patienten-und-besucher/data/flyer-mit-lageplan_haus-70.pdf).
IMPORTANAT NOTE FROM VŠCHT:
There is possibility for the student to apply for additional Erasmus+ internship support. Please contact outgoing@vscht.cz , in case you are selected for the position!!!!
Currently, this position is held by my Master’s student Paula from Spain, who will be graduating and returning home in August. Therefore, we are now looking for a motivated student to continue the work. I thought of contacting you first before announcing the position on the TU Dresden portal, as I am deeply grateful for all the exchange opportunities I received during my studies at VŠCHT and would love to offer this opportunity to a fellow student from Prague.
The selected student will assist in a translational research project focused on improving the culture system for human thymic allografts—used as a curative therapy for children with congenital athymia, such as in complete DiGeorge syndrome. Specifically, the student will support the development and testing of starPEG-heparin cryogels loaded with the chemokine CCL21, which we hypothesize will enhance T cell depletion from thymic tissue prior to transplantation. The project includes hands-on experience with ELISA, cryogel preparation, and chemotaxis assays using pediatric thymocytes.
The position would be well suited for a Bachelor's student with at least some laboratory experience or a Master's student. The minimum required skill is basic pipetting; most of the remaining techniques can be learned during the internship. Some prior knowledge of ELISA would be beneficial but is by no means essential. The most important quality we are looking for is a strong motivation and willingness to learn.
The internship is planned to start on September 1st, 2025, and unfortunately, the dates are not flexible (01.09.2025 – 31.12.2025).
Please feel free to share this opportunity with any students who might be interested. Karina would be happy to provide more details or answer any questions they may have.
For the application, we kindly ask interested students to submit a CV and a Certificate of Enrollment. Please also note that, since our lab is based in the children's hospital (Kinderklinikum), the student will need to have complete vaccinations (please find the list attached) and provide a Certificate of Good Conduct.
